This precious stone initially weighed 132.4 carat when it was mined in Africa; experts spent two years reshaping it, making it the stunning rock it is today. When put for sale at the Sotheby’s (Art Auction), it was estimated to fetch an estimated of $60 million. However, it was sold for a huge $71.2 million, making it the world’s most expensive pink diamond.

Koh-I-Noor

The Koh-I-Noor is one of the oldest, yet most famous diamonds in the world. Meaning “Mountain of Light”, this diamond goes back in history to more than 5,000 years back. This 105-carat diamond became the possession of Queen Victoria in 1849, after the British conquest. Ever since, this diamond has been used by the female members of the British Royal Family. It is always displayed in the Tower of London alongside the crown jewels. The Koh-I-Noor itself is said is to worth around $200 million, but the crown in which it features is priced at $12.7 billion.

The Hope Diamond

Weighing 42.52 carats today, the Hope Diamond is rare wonder. This magical deep blue diamond’s origin is quite conflicting as there are many stories behind its creation. It is most likely that it was cut from the Golkonda mine in the South of India. The first owner of this diamond was King Louis XIV. The King recut the stone to 67.5 carats and wore it on a piece of ribbon, for ceremonial occasions only. Disappearing for over 40 years, the precious stone was then purchased by Lord Phillip Hope in 1930, after it resurfaced. Now located in Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington, the estimated price of this diamond is $250 million.
